Autism Treatment-exposure to chemicals, treatments and Autism part 2 of 2

We started our 2-part series on chemical risks and treatments, talking about some of the ways that children are exposed to chemicals and how to use Epsom salts can be a good way to help detoxification. My recommendation for acute exposure to chemicals is an Epsom Salt bath daily for between 7 and 10 days. Acute exposure is as if someone is to spray your yard or your neighborhood with some type of chemical as weed killers, etc. And usually my maintenance suggested for most children is an Epsom Salt bath 3 to 4 times per week.

I suggest that if your child has never taken an Epsom Salt bath before you get really slow and only add a little more in first place since some children have sensitive skin and water will be a little salty. I suggest you start off with a half a cup of salts, especially if your child has sensitive skin or you just are not sure how they will react in the first place. And then you can try increasing the amount you add, working for what I usually recommend is 2 to 3 cups in the bath and make them about 3 to 4 times per week. And surely you can do it more often than recommended 3 to 4 times per week, it won't hurt them at all.

Summer is almost here and we will be moving to the warmer months, depending on where you live, can mean a lot of time to swim in the pool for her son. And while I really encourage swimming activity and any exterior really they have exposure to chlorine. After swimming, if you have access to a bath, you can put them in an Epsom Salt bath to help detoxification of chlorine. Or if you cannot gain access to a bathtub you can use cream of Epsom Salt. Parents of autistic children-the challenge of a nonverbal child

Parents of autistic children know that there are many challenges for parents of autistic children, mostly non-verbal.

Non-verbal children cannot express their desires, aversions, feelings or anything else about themselves in words. They cannot answer questions. It is often very frustrating for the father and son with autism have a good relationship without the use of verbal communication.

Parents of autistic children understandably want to know what the child is thinking and feeling are they happy? Sad? It Hurts? Hungry? Lonely? How can I help them? A very common method is called the PECS (Picture Exchange communication system). PECS is a method to get a child to point to pictures to show their desires or needs.

Preprinted image books are available, or you can make your own images. It is important to make sure that the images are things that your child is motivated to express.

What would these pictures? They could be your favorite activities, food they like, toys and books. Also, pictures that show words such as "Yes", "not", "it hurts" and images convey emotions are important, too. You can create your own images or use a library of images already created for this purpose in a software program such as Boardmaker, you can get into mayer-johnson.com.

Use a method such as PECS can help an autistic child gain a basic level of functional communication. You can increase the number of images used as your child gets older.

Sign language

A lot of children who are non-verbal learning sign language to help them communicate. Since many autistic children are visual learners, signing often comes more naturally to them than the spoken language.

Two types of sign language are used in the US, American sign language and something called Pidgin Sign Language. An advantage to PSL is that has a more intuitive, and it may be easier for autistic children to learn.

Many parents feel that sign language is a good building block for children to learn the language. Even if it doesn't, have a small communication is always better than no communication at all.

Portable devices for TTS (text to speech)

Another option for children who are non-verbal is a device called an AlphaSmart. The AlphaSmart is used to write what the person wants to say. It is basically a small keyboard, cheap batteries, with a screen showing what is being typed. Some of these devices have speakers who will then speak the words aloud to the person. With the addition of a speaker, they become portable devices of TTS (text to speech). These can work well with those who can write, but not speak.

Fortunately, there are several creative options to help parents of autistic children, whose children are non-verbal, especially if these children have fine motor skills.

Autism and vaccinations, is there a connection?

Autism, a weakness not well understood, complicated, which afflicts 1 in every 150 children and it is most commonly found in males than in females. Children, who live in a world that is self-absorbed, often are, unfortunately, unable to be part of our world. They are somehow locked within themselves, with no way. Autism is reflected in different ways and in different degrees. Expression and communication are two key areas that are significantly affected in children with autism.

Autism was rare until she began to appear more frequently in the late 1980s and early 1990s. At the time the studies show that approximately 1 in every 2000 affected children. In the middle of the 1990s the statistics showed a sharp increase in children diagnosed with autism. Less than a decade later, the number rose to approximately 1 in every 700 children being diagnosed. Today, in the year 2011 are seeing children with autism at an alarming rate of 1 in every 150 children. Autism is affecting children increasingly, why are the numbers going up? The incidence of autism, is too high, and the statistics are frightening.

In the early 1990s, there was a change in how the immunizations were mixed before being administered to children. Until the 1990s, immunization of measles, mumps and rubella, were administered separately and at different moments in the life of the child. Community is key-autism treatment for adults

Adult autism treatment is in many respects, similar to children. You still want to have occupational therapy for sensory issues and to help autistic adults navigate through different areas of their lives.

Some medicines can still be useful, such as psychotherapy to help them accept and adapt to some of its limitations. But one thing that can be particularly useful for the treatment of autism in adults is in finding the community support groups where they can meet others like them.

A lot of support that children with autism get stops after 21 years. Almost all of it, actually. To find a peer group of other adults with autism who can relate what is an adult with autism can be very useful.

Many cities have support groups for adults with autism spectrum disorders. You can find them via your local Autism Society, or research on the Internet or newspaper ads.

Adults with autism talk about their problems, discuss what is help and help others to find solutions to their problems. They also help each other to celebrate when something good happens in their lives. Above all, let others know that they are not alone. It turns out that the community can be an excellent treatment of sorts for adults with autism.

Find a support group for adults of autism

How do you find a group like this? There are several places you can try. The efficient use of language and how it affects autistic children

When looking for the language we use with our autistic children is useful for dividing it into categories. There are four things that concentrate when you want to use appropriate language with his son.

Signs of autism in children

Detect autism spectrum disorder in young age is vital to the care of the disorder. The sooner it is diagnosed, the better chance that the child must make improvements after receiving care from autism. Aspergers children: Perception Versus reality

I want to share a recent story that illustrates the care that we have to make assumptions based on perception of patterns of behavior in Aspergers kids. My child's parent-teacher conference this week, we were informed that my son always accepts invitations from other children to play with them during recess at school, but if he is not invited to play with other kids be played happily by itself. He has complained to anyone about the situation, and so we were told that he is happy with things as they are. A few days later I was talking with my son about his experiences of playground. He said he would like to play with other children on the playground more, but that "it is difficult."

Until that point I was open to the possibility that my son preferred solitude during the recess, but my son was telling me that he would like to play with other children, but that there was something preventing him from doing so, becoming "difficult". He is only seven years old and in the second series, so all he could say was that it was "difficult". I didn't expect him to say so. I don't get him to say so. I was really curious about what he was thinking and feeling about your vacation time. It gives me a stories or get upset. He was just stating the facts of your situation from their perspective. He wanted to play more with the other children, but he found it "hard", meaning that there was no "connections" that he wanted to do that wasn't happening.

When it comes to our children Aspergers or other children on the autism spectrum, we observe and ask questions to do our best to find out what is really happening. Just because someone doesn't complain about something doesn't mean that there is a problem. My son is a sweet kid and positive. It wasn't until we gave him the space to mention that he said what was really going on with it. This may seem so simple, however, as many of us are really listening to our children. It is much easier to see patterns of behavior and make assumptions. While this approach can align with the real facts now and then, without going into real conversation, we can be much further from the truth than we realize. And if you don't know what is really happening, how can we take effective measures to improve the situation? We are sharing that information with the school staff to help them understand that while it appears to be happy playing my own, it would be somewhat involved in the game with the other children (despite appearances). The only thing preventing that is "difficult" for it now. So let's see what we can do as a team to help make it more "easy" for him to play with the kids during recess.

Diagnosis and treatment of autism in children

Recovery from autism is not a dirty word

After reading many posts on forums and groups, it seems that there are doctors, individuals and communities that really frown on the word "recovery" in reference to autism spectrum disorders.

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but a little open mindedness and a good look at the world and what others achieve might be in order here, especially for those in the medical profession.

We're resilient physical beings

Is the exact closed minds who inspired people, as the Kaufmans-SON-RISE, many other families and individuals and ourselves to pursue what we know we can achieve recovery from autism!

It is pretty amazing when you think about it, how resilient is the physical human. There are numerous factual stories of survival and recovery in some of the toughest circumstances. A book that inspired us and I believe many others is also a book entitled "The human search for meaning", and Viktor Frankl. If you ever only going to read a book in your life I would recommend this one. It is without doubt one of the best examples of what a human can traverse and survive.

It is a spiritual level and the power of mind which enables us to achieve these amazing feats, the rest is just a biological fact that occupy and control in this physical world. Unfortunately the medical world by great Western has forgotten that the most powerful source of healing – or have they?

Unfortunately our society rely heavily on our medical "experts" to our health and well-being, and it is unfortunate that doctors in the Western world today practise what I refer to how to make "band-aid" medicine where drugs are prescribed only to cover up the symptoms, but they don't really address the root of the problem. However, unbeknownst to the doctors, they can be actually practicing spiritual healing or holistic, just that they don't know it!

Mind over matter about autism

The placebo effect! Proving that the mind plays a larger role in our health than we give him credit for science. I'm sure that most times when a GP prescribes medication for a condition is largely the mind that is doing the repairs, with the drugs helping a cellular level and possibly without them noticing, a spiritual level, causing the patient to believe that this drug will fix them.

Granted that this is my opinion only and there will be many who disagree with me, but that is ok, there must be a contrast to ideas to progress and learn! However the point I'm trying to make here is that our mind and our spiritual energy are what really controls all aspects of our physical being, and recovery from autism is definitely viable.

There is no doubt that a cellular level for natural and man made elements that improve and/or destroy our physical structure. Many of these elements found in nature and there are many old "medical" practices that used these to health and wellness. I always thought that the Chinese had virtually assured, with the combination of mental and physical balance, natural herbs and acupuncture

Unfortunately in our life "Westernized" fast lane we have left all these remedies "old" and largely chose to go to the fast approach of "band-aid" to make mega rich pharmaceutical companies.

Don't be fooled, however, that Western techniques and surgical practices certainly have come a long way to increase our life expectancy and quality of life for many diseases and disabilities. But wouldn't it be a better idea to look at the root cause and stop diseases and deficiencies of manifesting itself in the first place!

How can a person recover from autism?

Back to the subject-a person can recover from an autistic spectrum disorder. And certainly there is evidence out there to back this statement up! The body is being a surprising but our spiritual body is a force even more amazing. Together, they are what makes us who we are, and together they give the ability to "recover".

Primitive reflexes

Reflexes are nervous system actions that happen automatically, without the participation of the largest centers of the brain. An example of a reflection is when you get the handle of a hot pot on a stove. You pull your hand away before you even realize is still hot. This is called a reflex spinal chord. The entry comes body skin on his hand and is transmitted by a nerve in the spinal cord. From there, two things happen. Firstly, the nerve entered is directly connected to another nerve that is sent to a muscle that can move your hand before you get burned very badly. It happens very fast and without thinking. At the same time, the information is sent to the brain so that you can become aware of what just happened.

Primitive reflexes are a bit more complicated, but the principle is the same. They happen automatically without the involvement of the conscious brain. Primitive reflexes have all seen in action when we put our finger on the baby's hand and hand grasps a finger. Babies also turn their head toward something brush against her cheek and find something there they will start to suck. Adults don't do these things because our brain, specifically the upper part of the brain called the cortex, sending signals down to stop these types of reflections before they start. In fact, primitive reflexes should be undetectable in children over one year old.

Think about what it would be like trying to write when every time you put a pencil in hand you made a fist, or how it affects what you eat, if every time something touched his lips mouth tried to suck. It would be very difficult because you have to think about stopping these reflexes before you could take the desired action. But these are just the kind of things that happen to children that nervous systems are not developed the ability to disable these reflexes. There are many primitive reflexes. Some cause an arm to straighten when we turn our heads, or to bend all our body front when our heads bent forward. They can interfere with the transition from far to near vision or the ability to use both sides of the body together.

Many children with learning difficulties have kept primitive reflexes that are responsible for their difficulty performing tasks that require school. If your child has problems at school, or does not appear to move smoothly or lack of coordination, is extremely important to have it evaluated by a doctor who can determine if primitive reflexes are present and prescribing a program of stimulation/inhibition reflex to treat them.

Treatment of autism-Spring allergies, regression and autism, part 1 of 2

Spring is here again and often this means yeast for many children on the autism spectrum. And it really is interesting, this pattern I've seen with many children over the years who suffer from problems with the yeast overgrowth, even if it has been well controlled through medications or supplements. When spring comes, and we see an increase in the levels of pollen and flowers begin to bloom, we also see kids begin to recede due to overgrowth of yeast. These old yeast behaviors even rise again and see the goofiness, idiocy, Vertigo, stimulatory behavior and inappropriate laughter self, many of these odd behaviors that are so often associated with yeast overgrowth in children with autism.

So we try to understand just why this might be happening. And is a challenge to know with certainty what is going on in the body, but when they are exposed to allergens body naturally will increase their immunological activity as a result. This response is to grass or pollen or allergen are exposed to and if your child has a problem with the overgrowth of yeast, which also causes a change in immune reaction and which can be systematically or be locally focused as in the intestinal tract or mucosal lining of the nose or sinusesregardless it still creates a systemically change. Yeast is opportunistic way and it can take the opportunity of a shift immune due to allergens as a way to grow and grow. This increase in metabolic activity of the yeast produce biotoxins that then interfere with the functioning of the brain of the child and see the regressive behaviors that we associate with the yeast and the cycle starts all over again.

So you really want to be aware of this situation and be attentive to it. Where you live is a part of the country that goes from cold right in warmer weather, then you may want to anticipate the behaviour of yeast and pay attention to them. And how we can begin to enjoy the warmer weather and spend more time with friends, enjoying picnics outside, etc. that we can limit the amount of sodas, juice and sweetened foods that our children are allowed to have once they certainly can increase levels of yeast as well. Autism-different, no less!

All individuals are unique. is the way God created us. To emphasize the difference, its plan ensures that each person has a physical appearance that is distinctive, and not two minds work exactly alike! 23: 59 on February 15, 2011, there were 7,086,773,664 people alive in the world! It is surprising that, with more than 7 billion people alive on that date, each person is unique in appearance and thought! Of these, 310,830 736 people call the United States home! And in this country, the most recent estimates reflect that 1.5 million Americans have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, ASD. And each of these individuals is unique!

There has been much research done over the past 20 years in autism, PDD and Asperger syndrome. Under these conditions bear many similarities, but each has some distinctive features. Recently, the medical world has begun to group these disorders as autism spectrum disorder. Consider the number of children diagnosed in America. These children have parents, siblings and extended family. These children and families interact daily with many other people in society through school, work, Church, social organizations and daily activities.

In the Centre of a beautiful blossum is a child with ASD. This child is the Carpus this flower, the petals are each played and connected to varying degrees their strength and beauty. Parents and brothers lovingly surround and protect the child with ASD as the petals surrounding immediately the Carpus this flower. Is the connection of these inner petals which give the other petals, the family and the community, the vitality necessary to improve and add more splendor to this flower. Again, what started as a seed exceptional became an exquisite flower!

Mother of Temple Grandin coined the phrase, "different, not least" in reference to his daughter. And, the impact and the blessing of life and the legacy of Temple Grandin touched millions! Spend a few minutes with a family member of someone diagnosed with autism, and you will notice the respect, love and pride that they exude when talking about his beloved with this condition!

Shannon's nephew, Brandon, has 15 years of age. Diagnosed early, the family of Brandon was uncertain what the future held. Through love, acceptance and persistence, it continues to flourish. Today, Brandon attends a public high school, where he touches lives every day, he plays the organ pipes on Sundays for the congregation at his Church, and he enjoys a rich, full life, where he is both blessed and a blessing to others!

Each one of us was created to interact and make a difference in this world. We are all different, but not one of us is less important than the other! How can we learn to appreciate and respect this fact, the lives of those diagnosed with ASD and the lives of people with whom they interact will flourish beyond what was thought imaginable!

Does MMR causes autism?

MMR vaccine cause autism?

The response based on current research notis. The association between MMR vaccine and Autism can be traced to the late 1980s, when it was noticed that there was an increase in the number of autism being diagnosed. Rates from that season were nearly double the previous years and individuals began to look at the possible causes of autism. Among the first link between MMR vaccinations and autism is the result of an article made in the United Kingdom in 1998. In it he suggested that the vaccine has introduced a series of events that lead to changes in the brain causing autism (inflammation of the colon, release of proteins). In February 2010, that study was cancelled after research showed that medical research was paid for lawyers planning to sue vaccine makers, and that he was applying for a vaccine alternative. The doctor was found to be falsified results with intentions to take advantage of it. In 2010, the doctor was stripped of his right to practice medicine.

So where does that leave us today? At the moment there is a study done in 2002 suggesting vaccines MMR may contribute to autism. However, it is incorrect, methodology and numerous follow-up studies in contradiction with the results. Since the initial research of 1998, there have been several studies (12) with a couple done by the CDC that show no link between vaccines and autism. It is likely that the increase in the diagnosis of autism since the 1990s was caused by the change in criteria necessary for diagnosis of autism and a greater awareness of the disease.

Explore the possible link between autism and MMR vaccine research is ongoing. To date, no scientific link has been established. Numerous studies of large and well designed not to support an association between MMR and autism.

With clear evidence of an association between MMR and autism and numerous studies supporting the lack of association between the vaccine and autism, it is still recommended for children get their MMR vaccine. The use of vaccines against childhood led to a significant reduction of childhood diseases that had serious consequences. Vaccines in decline because of a theoretical risk, places the child at risk of actual infection with actual consequences. Note, as a result of the 1998 study, MMR vaccination decreased from 90% to 80%. In the past five years, the rate of measles in the United Kingdom rose to endemic levels. Fortunately, vaccination rates in the United States have not been significantly changed, although there have been local outbreaks.

Asperger syndrome-Pardox Social impairment and profound Social disconnection

The intricate labyrinth of this paradox exists within the assumption that a social impairment in and of itself, however that is defined and experienced in each individual (AS) life is tantamount to social disconnectedness

Gregory B. Yates, in his writing, "A Topological Theory of Autism," explains that the three founders of "autism", Eugen Bleuler, Leo Kanner, and Hans Asperger, "clearly saw other features of autism as secondary to social disconnectedness." and emphasizes that this disconnectedness "...is the central, eponymous feature of autism it is the primary feature..."- "it is social disconnectedness that most defines autism..."

The degree to which there are differences, generally, between autism and Asperger's Syndrome (AS), more specifically, in terms of this social disconnectedness varies greatly with each individual. It has been my experience that the manifestation of this social impairment and social disconnectedness also varies greatly between those with more classic forms of autism as opposed to those with Asperger's Syndrome (AS). Even within those with AS the extent to which this paradoxical synergetic syndrome is present depends upon many individual factors including age of diagnosis, intervention, support, counselling and general educational intervention.

I experience this social disconnectedness, as an adult with Asperger's Syndrome (AS), in ways that I imagine are more difficult for me and others like me than they may be for those with more classic autism. It is the awareness that one has with AS that often brings with it a more painful lack of connection. Many, like myself, with AS, to varying degrees, have strong desires to try to be as social as we can. This is, however, coalesced with what is an equally strong aversion to being social.

This paradox of simultaneously desiring and feeling aversion to social connectedness is born out of a lifetime of difficult and painful experiences in the social realm coupled with a lack of understanding and difficulty in truly being able to feel a sense of joining in what others are experiencing as a shared experience.

I am keenly aware, in the social realm, that while I have learned to do many things that one is supposed to do from all accounts and appearances I do not experience them in the same way that neuro-typicals (NTs) do. There is still this feeling of not totally understanding the feeling experience of the shared social experience. This reality is accompanied by the anxiety and the stress (overload to my system) that much of this activity produces within me. To state it outright and forthrightly, I do not derive joy from anything social.

My experience of joy is very much a by myself internalized proposition. Knowing this can be, at times, a source of frustration and pain. Even when I am social I am not really totally there. It's difficult to explain this but as Yates explains, "Autistic people live like Tantalus*, with the fluent social interaction of others suspended before their eyes, out of reach." I can relate to this. To try to actually join in and feel a shared experience socially is like reaching for forbidden fruit that moves ever so slightly back every time I reach up and forward toward it. I have been in many a social situation where I do just end up observing because the social interaction of others is suspended out there before me and for me is out of reach in terms of experiencing it the way that others appear to be and report experiencing shared meaningful times that fill them up. Trying to socialize, which I don't mind in small doses, despite the pain of it all, for me is so stressful most of the time that unlike my NT friends empties me out leaving me just wanting to retreat back into my own world.

The fact that most NT's describe socializing as being a "filling up" experience that adds something to them and I know that it is the opposite for me, I don't see this as needing to be defined as anything else aside from a profound difference after its recognition.

Yates continues with the assertion that, "Social disconnectedness is the horse of autism: Secondary features are baggage in its cart."

Not everything about this social disconnectedness is experienced as baggage. That said, I think it would be highly negating if I were to say that this disconnectedness doesn't in fact leave an adult with AS with some baggage. It does.

The most difficult aspect of this baggage, which I'm sure varies with each adult with AS, though having, no doubt, some common themes, is that we are left to fend for ourselves with it. There are (with rare exceptions) no services for adults with Asperger's Syndrome.

In my own experience, the mental health issues and co-morbid issues that can exist with AS and its incumbent or subsequent baggage, are not effectively being dealt with by traditional Mental Health delivery systems. While there are some therapists who will assist adults with AS they are not accessible to those without the funds and even then they are rare as most, if not all resources are currently focused on children with autism and/or Asperger's Syndrome.

Today's children are going to be tomorrow's adults. The baggage that they will encounter as adults will still be sitting here, as is mine and that of other adults with AS. I continue to not understand the lack of services for adults and for those who are transitioning from adolescents to adulthood with all its more complicated issues.

I must stress here too that not all that AS brings to my life is about baggage. In the arena of social disconnectedness and trying to navigate the world of social beings however, yes, I have some baggage that I am continually aware of, working through, and trying to come to terms with. In this area, this baggage does impinge upon my self-acceptance, still, though I'm getting through that more now too. This is the reality of a paradox that adults with AS must not only live with but wrestle with in order to not be left feeling less than. This is why I stress that we are differently abled as opposed to the common societal stereotypical assessment that we are just disabled

Yates also asserts, "While some secondary features of autism are unpleasant, in a social world one autistic trait is truly devastating. That is autism's defining characteristic itself - social disconnectedness.

I have found this trait quite devastating. While I continue to make progress in terms of what I have learned about mapping my social efforts I continue to find them often as painful as they are anything else. I am still in the process of dealing with this fact. The fact that I have to live with a high degree of social disconnectedness that I have enough insight about to feel saddened by at times. It is here, I have learned, that my self-acceptance depends upon my ability to continue to learn and grow in my ability to use compensatory strategies to meet my needs in the adult arena of relating.

Yates states that, "Autistic people vary in their desire for social interaction. However, even those who do not desire social contact can be devastated by its lack, for thriving in human society depends on social ability."

I agree totally with Yates here. I have known other adults with Asperger's Syndrome. I've seen vast differences between them and myself in many respects. I've also noticed that there are numerous and vast differences between men and women with Asperger's as well. (More on this in an up-coming article)

I have been devastated by "its lack". The lack of socialization in my life. By what remains (or certainly feels like) despite my best and most fervent efforts to socialize, relate, and be available in my primary relationship, a feeling of disconnectedness that often brings me back to a familiar pain that like a brick wall sitting between me and the world of social ability, has and continues to affect my thriving in the way in which most people define and value thriving

All is not lost here however. I am a great believer that even when diagnosed with AS in adulthood, as I was at the age of 40, we can make progress. I have learned a great deal. I continue to learn to compensate and to let those closest to me know what I need in order to be able to build bridges to them and have them build meaningful relational bridges to me.

I also believe that despite not experiencing a kind of social ability that clearly indicates thriving to our human society, I am thriving and will continue to build upon this thriving in my own way as defined by my own understanding, needs, wants, and my continued dedication to straddle what is at times a very unforgiving philosophical paradox.

What is defined as social impairment, again, can be construed as disabled or contrastingly as differently abled. One must take to task the notion that we are all supposed to be the same or that we all must have the same values and capacity in the social realm.

Having Asperger's and knowing it should be a gateway to understanding not some societally imposed label that implies lack and that sees that lack pathologized.

It is my hope and my intention the more I come to understand my Asperger reality and the more I write about it that my readers will come to appreciate the differences that manifest in many ways that are the indicators of difference in brain functioning. That NT brain wiring is not superior to the brain wiring of those with Asperger's and visa versa. This is all about difference and more specifically, acceptance of that difference and allowing each group of people to live as they must and flourish as they will.

To this end, coming out of this most basic difference in social ability and social connectedness or defined disconnectedness it is my hope that the system and parents of children with AS will stop believing and insisting on trying to normalize the autism/asperger's out of their children. We are born the way we are for good reason. Let society expand its definition and understanding of worth, and change itself, and stop requiring that those of us on the autistic spectrum change or have to fit the NT mold in order to matter, to be functional, and to be able. We are very gifted and talented in our own ways. Who we are needs to be "good enough". It needs to be "good enough" firstly to parents, secondly to society and equally to each adult diagnosed and left to fend for themselves, with Asperger's, in adulthood.

We need bridges of understanding to and from each other. We do not need to be the same. We are all okay as we are, differences and all.

The use of equine therapy of involvement in medicine

Recent studies have shown that the mentally ill and those who suffer from depression tend to get some relief from playing with animals. A child who has a pet was found to be more active and more immune to diseases. Interaction with animals have been found to lower blood pressure and heart rate, decrease in stress levels, dependence, control of anger, anxiety, tension and increased confidence, self-esteem and patience. Children who suffer from emotional disorders and bipolar can be healed slowly and improvement in their health and behavior observed if they are made to relate to horses. Those who have benefited from this aggressive behavior therapy with the result that became calmer and more receptive to suggestions and conversations. This type of therapy is called equine therapy that has been gaining ground rapidly, mainly an ambulatory treatment because of their rapid implementation results.

A horse is an animal who will be loyal to the command of master without any expectations. They are generally non-committal on obeying the orders of his master. Autistic children will concentrate on how to develop a relationship with the animal and they will begin to express themselves using new signs or words. How to get relationship deepens and the horse starts to obey the child commands its increases in self-esteem and with it, non-verbal communication, self-awareness and accountability. Horses are specially trained in this respect and caution and precaution is taken in this method the maximum.

As the horse reacts to different orders or requests by the affected person, he or she can gain insight into their behaviour, feelings, patterns, borders, etc. The equine therapy classes can involve riding Mount or dismount but can also have activities such as overloading, vaulting, walking or maintenance. In fact, they are made to participate in all aspects of decision-making provided food, exercise, grooming and horse riding etc. After some time, an occupational therapist may ask questions to the child about the relationship and devise plans and standards to facilitate recovery. The unusual bond can build trust, respect, affection and self-control that autistic children can be useful in their future lives.

Parents wishing to enrol their children in equine therapy classes will need to check the sessions in the hospital or the ranch. They must check the type of therapy is suitable for their children. Therapy is also called as "Therapeutic Riding".

Gluten-free or not free of gluten-autism

Good nutrition equals good health. People with autism or spectrum have difficulty with nutrition. Individuals with autism have different likes and dislikes controlled by his dysfunctional senses. This makes good nutrition a fight, having negative consequences for the person with autism or PDD on health. Most people on the autism spectrum have a normal IQ. With malnutrition, many with autism spectrum cannot function normally. People with autism and PPD love the crispy chicken Nuggets and French fire-McDonald or chicken nuggets of Tyson. For many with autism spectrum disorder, this is the only thing that they eat, which offers very little nutritional value. Also, pop the champagne in his mouth, is something that someone with autism loves, loving feeling in your mouth.

With the food we eat being so poor in nutritional value, and a variety of foods (not all food groups), the person with the body of autism may not receive adequate nutrients or calories for growth, function of the body and brain function. The question then is: what to do as a parent/caregiver, to help the loved one with autism? Gluten-free diet has been the choice to "cure" autism. That would be great if the person with autism or PPD would eat anything and was not selective about their food. The person with autism will not eat anything. the person with autism will eat almost anything, making it difficult to impossible for people with autism and PPD to eat gluten. The senses of taste, smell and touch are elevated in people with autism and PPD as a caregiver trying to sneak the foods that are gluten-free; the microscope of the person with autism will analyze it and reject it.

Therefore, a parent or caregiver must choose the best route for the person with autism or PPD when it comes to diet, so that the person with autism will be healthy in the years ahead. A celiac test will tell a person if they are allergic to gluten. Most children have this test at birth. If the test does not show a positive for gluten allergy, gluten allergy is not present. Without a positive test for celiac, ' cure ' Autism (or anything except an allergy to gluten) with a diet that has gluten has scientific evidence as a cure. Course without gluten, yeast or dairy has not been tested by science. Science (studies and trial) has documented these diets as a cure for autism and PDD; Therefore, to take these things out of the person with autism diet only leads to malnutrition. Individuals feel that they should attempt to Cure Autism at any cost and try any thing that can work with scientific support or not. I do not agree with this, since the cost of experimentation "hit or miss" is usually "too high" (a loss of life or damage to a system of body). If a caregiver would rather have the calories and a relationship with the person with autism, a gluten-free diet is best. If a caregiver rather have no calories and a poor relationship with the person with autism, take gluten diet (combating the dinner table with an adult/child who does not have enough calories to support your body works-I think they call hungry).

Having gluten out of person with autism, diet is dangerous and insecure a fight. How could it be dangerous? Hunger is dangerous, especially a child. With a child who has autism, PPD or they are missing nutrition and they don't get enough calories. With this observation, their bodies are not getting what they need to add another constraint to your diet restricted already self can do nutrition through calories almost impossible. If a person with autism eats well and will eat anything, even a caregiver needs to see if they are up to the demands of a gluten free diet. These special diets cost more dollars. If a loved one is demanding and puts everything through his microscope, feed him what you can and hope that what he is eating isn't effecting your behavior. Remember, gluten, milk products, casein and yeast free do not work in all children with autism (the advice of many on the internet). In addition, there is no scientific evidence that a diet free of these important nutrients work in healing autism and PPD.

As a medical professional, what I would choose for children or adults with autism is a good multivitamin along with a good calcium supplement and for them to eat a balanced diet to grow strong. I would choose a soft gel so that I could put a PIN in it and squeeze it in any drink. I would call that the supplement was right for the person, and that was a whole food so that he will not have a smell and I wouldn't have to worry about anything else being added to my beloved system. Power whenever he liked the person with autism calories would be my goal if he is a poor eater. While the person with autism received daily minerals and vitamins, thank you, if he wanted candy, I give him candy. Only for calories, use good would cover nutrition supplements. I try to feed him in two hours and make sure it gets at least 2000 calories per day (or the amount of calories that the doctor asked).

Nutrition is something that all children and adults need to work together with calories to give them energy. Calories gives the energy of the body so that the body has the power for the transport of nutrients for living (your heart pounding, your brain to think, your lungs breath and your function body). A fireplace will not work without wood or natural gas. a person's body will not function or function without fuel calories. Calories and good nutrition cannot exist in the body without the other.
